Exploration Manager

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Travel Required: Periodic travel to project sites across Canada

Position Overview

Critical Discoveries is seeking an experienced and motivated Exploration Manager to oversee and grow our exploration services division. 


The successful candidate will lead and support Critical Discoveries’ project management team, providing oversight of project execution, technical staff, field programs, budgets, and schedules. They will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard while fostering strong client relationships and contributing to business development and company growth. 


Reporting directly to the President, the Exploration Manager will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the company. 

Responsibilities

Team Leadership 

  • Supervise and mentor geologists, geological technicians, and contractors. 
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and performance management. 
  • Foster a positive, safety-focused work environment. 
  • Support staff development and professional growth. 


Client & Business Development 

  • Act as the primary contact for assigned clients. 
  • Provide regular project updates and technical recommendations. 
  • Assist with proposal preparation, budgeting, and contract negotiations. 
  • Support business development efforts and identify opportunities for company growth. 


Regulatory & Community Engagement 

  • Support permitting and regulatory applications. 
  • Participate in stakeholder and Indigenous engagement activities. 
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements. 


Technical Leadership 

  • Review and interpret geological, geochemical, geophysical, and drilling data. 
  • Generate and prioritize exploration targets. 
  • Review technical reports, maps, and presentations. 
  • Support geological modelling, resource evaluation, and NI 43-101 reporting activities. 
  • Maintain high standards of data quality and technical excellence. 

Qualifications

Required 

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related discipline. 
  • Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo.) designation or eligibility for registration. 
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior management and leadership role. 
  • Minimum 10 years of mineral exploration experience. 
  • Experience managing exploration budgets and field programs. 
  • Strong communication and leadership skills. 
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel. 


Preferred 

  • Experience in mineral exploration consulting. 
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Proficiency with QGIS, Leapfrog Geo, and Microsoft Office. 
  • Experience with Indigenous engagement and permitting processes. 
  • NI 43-101 reporting experience.

About Critical Discoveries

At Critical Discoveries, we are a collaborative geological consulting and exploration company based out of Manitoba, working across Canada. Our mission is to advance discovery through innovation, integrity, and teamwork. We provide geological, geophysical, and field operations support to clients exploring for critical minerals and precious metals throughout Canada. 

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Field Assistant to support our field and geological programs. No prior experience is required — training will be provided. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, being outdoors, and working as part of a team on active exploration projects. You will assist with field activities, basic data collection, and general site support. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist geologists with geological mapping, prospecting, soil sampling, rock sampling, trenching, and other exploration activities. 
  • Collect, label, organize, and transport geological and geochemical samples in accordance with established procedures and QA/QC protocols. 
  • Navigate using GPS units, maps, tablets, and field data collection software while accurately recording field observations and maintaining organized records. 
  • Assist with geophysical survey support, equipment setup and maintenance, inventory management, and daily field logistics. 
  • Support mobilization, camp setup, camp maintenance, and demobilization activities as required. 
  • Operate and maintain basic field equipment and hand tools safely and effectively. 
  • Perform physically demanding work in remote environments under varying weather conditions, including walking long distances over uneven terrain while carrying equipment, and supporting helicopter-, ATV-, boat-, or fly-in exploration programs. 
  • Follow company safety policies, participate in hazard assessments, and contribute to a professional, productive, and positive field culture. 


Qualifications (Entry-Level)

  • High School Diploma (or currently working toward one) 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs 
  • Valid Standard First Aid CPR-C or higher 
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle 
  • Comfortable using basic field tools such as a tape measure and other hand tools 
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency and attention to detail 
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions in a field environment 
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail 
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
